Residents living in Soho, Fitzrovia and Mayfair can sign up for Westminster Council’s on-demand food waste recycling service which was first launched in 2023.

Residents living in suitable properties can book a two-hour collection slot for their food waste to be collected directly from their property’s main communal front door.  This service is ideal for residents that have limited space to store food waste recycling bins.

The on-demand food waste recycling service is also available to residents in St James’s and Marylebone Wards.

Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg, Cabinet Member for City Management and Air Quality, said:

“So far, more than 300 residents have signed-up for the on-demand food waste recycling service. This is a great way to contribute to recycling in a simple and practical way. The food waste is taken to an anerobic digestion plant in Hertfordshire where it is converted to fertiliser and animal feed.”
