Hyde Park Ward – The Three Key Election Issues
Paul Dimoldenberg, Judith Southern and Md Shamsed Chowdhury, Your Labour Candidates for Hyde Park Ward, say:
“Talking to residents in Hyde Park Ward over the past few months have brought up a wide range of issues and concerns. However, there are three overwhelming issues that residents have repeated to us, time after time.
First, is the appalling waste of money involved in the disastrous £6 million Marble Arch Mound. Residents are rightly angry that the Council should have wasted so much public money when it could have been better spent on other pressing concerns. More police on the streets, CCTV cameras to catch illegal rubbish dumpers and more homes for those in housing need are all ways in which residents believe that £6 million could have been better spent.
For many residents, the £6 million Marble Arch Mound is the reason they will not be voting Conservative on 5th May.
Second, Boris Johnson’s ‘Partygate’ scandal has been the ‘last straw’ for many residents, including many life-long Conservatives. We have heard stories of residents who kept to the rules and were not able to see their sick or elderly relatives. They are very angry that the Prime Minister and his staff ignored those same rules and attended party after party in Downing Street and Whitehall. So many Conservatives have told us that they intend to either not vote or vote Labour on 5th May.
And third, residents in Hyde Park Ward have been impressed by the practical, hard-working and diligent approach of the Hyde Park Labour Action Team over the past year and more. Again and again, residents have told us, “You guys get things done, I am voting Labour this time”.
On 5th May, residents in Hyde Park will be able to cast their three votes on the record of Boris Johnson’s Conservative Council and his arrogant and out-of-touch Government and on the record of three energetic and dedicated Labour Candidates who ‘get things done’ for local residents.”
