Paul Dimoldenberg, Judith Southern and Md Shamsed Chowdhury, Labour’s candidates for Hyde Park Ward, have called for action to keep Harbet Road clear of rubbish. Harbet Road is a private road next to the Hilton London Metropole Hotel and responsibility for sweeping the street is with the hotel.
The Hyde Park Labour Team say that local residents are very concerned at the poor state of the street which is very rarely swept and rubbish piles up by the kerb.
Residents are also concerned about the regular parking on the double yellow lines on Harbet Street outside the hotel, where no action ever appears to be taken by the private parking company against the drivers who park on the double yellow lines.
Paul Dimoldenberg said:
“The management of the Hilton London Metropole Hotel need to take their responsibilities more seriously by sweeping Harbet Road on a daily basis and by managing the parking situation more forcefully. Residents nearby are totally fed up by the current situation of rubbish on the street and a parking ‘free for all”.
